Dear Kids,

It's winter time, and all my friends are hibernating. That means they are sleeping through the winter. I do not sleep through the winter because I am not a normal bear. You have probably already noticed that because most bears don't write letters on a computer either.  I learned how to keyboard with my nose when I was five.

I love playing outside in the winter. I have a nice warm coat, and fur on my paws and on my ears to keep me warm and dry. Sometimes my nose gets pretty cold though.

Kids don't grow furry coats like bears, so when you play outside, you have to put on a coat and mittens and boots. I wish I could do that!  If I could , I would like to have a red coat, blue mittens, a yellow hat with a pom pom, and shiney green boots!!

My Mom told me that kids who wear hats and mittens have warmer feet.  I laughed and laughed, because I thought maybe she thought hats and mittens go on feet. But then she explained that keeping your head warm keeps your body heat in and your whole self does stay warmer!!!  Even your hands.  I asked her if my nose would stay warmer if I wore a hat and she said that bears don't need hats like kids do, but I really wanted a yellow hat with a pom pom,  I wanted one so bad.

So I got a hat, and yesterday I wore it outside to play and guess what? My feet were warmer. My paws were warmer, and my nose was warmer too.

I will be checking on your class to see if you remember to wear your hats, mittens and coats on cold days.  Just remember, the hat goes on your head, not on your feet!
