Creating Your Own Web Site
Gerri Harvey

You may think a web page is hard to create, requiring mysterious techie skills that take years to learn; things like html, ftp or complicated programs. So you might be surprised to know that I know nothing about writing html or how to ftp files and I don't even own a special program.

I created this web site (and several others including my school nurse page at school and my state school nurse asociation page with it's own personalized URL!) using a simple online program that anyone can master in an hour. It is user-friendly, and is not much more complicated than using a word processing program. It comes with templates for beautiful web sites you can customize by filling in the blanks, but also allows you to get creative and do your own thing if you want.

The tutorials and tech support are great, and the price is right. You can try it out to see if you like it before you commit. A simple site with a homestead.com extension like this one can be created and hosted for as little as $6.00 a month. Larger sites or multiple sites with more pages and features such as personalized URL's (registration included), forms, surveys and mailing lists cost more, but even those are a bargain price for what you get and easy as pie to use.

The service I use is Homestead. I have used them for six years and plan to stay with them forever.I am pleased to recommend them to any school nurse individual, organization or business. Click the link below to check out their features and packages.
