I often have little snippets of messages I would like to share with my middle school students; newspaper articles, flyers, magazine clippings, etc. I decided that this year, I would have a Progressive Bulletin board that would grow through the whole school year. I would create a growing collage of articles.
This board began with the large white puzzle piece in the center, and the colored puzzle pieces I cut from construction paper. On it it says, "Are you puzzled?" and many topics are listed on it (closeup). Since my large bulletin board is located at the end of a wing, it is visible as the end wall to anyone walking toward my office, the computer lab, the library, lavatories, or the art room. Class lineups for screening and the computer lab make students a captive audience. Not surprisingly, the Sesame Street/MTV generation is drawn to the complexity and variety of this visual display, and many students notice when new items get added.
Check back for more pictures as my Progressive Bulletin Board develops.
